No doubts, 2025 is being a challenging year for me so far. Getting rid of my fear of 3D with Blender, working with everything related about my webcomic "Gibbon" and, of coure, giving my best shot to be recognized here and at the internet as a whole.
However, I have other interests outside my art zone. And well, writing and reading is one of them.
While having a boring call during my homeoffice day job, I remembered a novel I had read during my school days (6th Grade to be more specific). Not only it's has an interesting plot but also made my passion flame for drawing and being the biggest and main inspo behind my webcomic: "Desenhos de Guerra e de Amor" (Love and War in Pencil)
Think about that: two persons with different points of view who also happens to take the same bus after school. This is the case of our two main protagonists: Gabriel Lopes Silva and Isabelle del Santos. Gabriel, an nagging, edgy, lonelly and rebelious boy who reports on his journal his injustices he suffered on today's calss. Futhermore, he thinks his world is full of stupid, dumb, bossy and party-pooper people: including his mom, his dad, his two brother and his other school mates who ignores his mere existence. Nasty writting, terrifying drawings and mean revenge plans are a form of how this folk show the rotten and crude side of this world.
Isabel on the other hand, is a humble, friendly, optimistic and fun-loving girl who arrived as a the bus's new passager. She's the responsible for taking Gabriel's life into a new turn and, the most scary thing: She also have a journal. While Gaby's diary is basically a bloddy battlefield, Issy's basically a softy and lyrical balade from the Renaissanse Era.
As both crosses each path, they came along into hyperbolic shenanigans which will make them found a new meaning on their lifes and.... perhaps.... love.
After re-reading this local piece of literacture two times as an adult, I realized this deserve to be translated for foreigners fellows who loves satirical jounal novels ala Diary of a Wimpy Kid. So I decided to make a non-official translation of this underated romance story. Sure, I had to localize some things that foreigner wouldn't undertand (I bet you, fellow wankees even know who even that Tiradentes guy was), but it was a fun challange neither than less. Also, I had a big hand from a local friend of mine who ended in love with the novel he never had the chance to read on his school days (but now he did thanks to me. he he~).
